Weight Issues?

Many people ask themselves: “Why am I overweight, even though I only eat small, low fat meals?” Why are the success rates of many ‘diets’ still unsatisfactory and why do some people successfully lose weight while others don’t?

The answer could lie in the possibility of food intolerances (delayed food allergies). Besides excess calorie intake and too little exercise - being overweight can be linked with disturbances of the lipometabolism, which occur through inflammatory processes. Such inflammatory processes could in turn be triggered through delayed food allergies.

The following complaints often accompany food intolerances.

  • Weight increase despite low calorie intake and exercise
  • Stronger weight fluctuations from day to day
  • Frequent fatigue after a meal
  • Flatulence, constipation, but also diarrhoea and intestinal disturbances
  • Certain foodstuffs not being well tolerated

Sensitivity builds over time triggering the immune system and setting off an inflammation. The body can only stand so much toxicity until it reaches a threshold which releases itself in the form of symptoms, one of which can be the inability to lose weight.

When the immune system becomes activated it actually interferes with the body’s ability to burn fat so it is stored instead of being utilised for energy. The liver is your body’s detoxifying organ and if this is overloaded due to chronic inflammation from food your body will dump the toxins in the least harmful place - your fat cells.  The more intoxicated your fat cells become, the slower the body’s ability to metabolise fat, and the more your body will retain fluid in an effort to flush out the toxins. This is why people with food intolerances can find it harder and harder to lose weight. If this process continues it can lead to chronic disease like diabetes type 2 and chronic fatigue.

If you suffer from obesity it is a good idea to get tested for food intolerances. That way you can find out exactly what foods could be causing your weight gain or inability to lose weight.

Food allergies occur irrespective of their nutrient content and usually build up as a result of having too much too often.
